Every great journey begins with a single step, and for us, that step was taken in front of a hot oven at the age of 14. Little did I know that my passion for baking would evolve into a flourishing bakery in my hometown of Apopka.
At just 14 years old, armed with a mixing bowl, my moms old cookbook and a desire to make Christmas sugar cookies, I embarked on my baking journey. Mixing flour and sugar, I began creating treats that were simple yet full of heart. My early baking escapades ignited a spark that would lead me to where I am today.
Fast forward to the birth of my first child. With her birth came the inspiration to explore the world of cake decorating. Enrolling in decorating classes opened up a realm of
possibilities, and soon, my cakes began to take on intricate designs and vibrant colors. Friends and family were quick to notice my creativity and requests started to flood in.
With every cake I created, my reputation as a skilled baker grew. As I raised my children and juggled the responsibilities of parenthood, my passion for baking remained a constant source of joy. What started as a hobby soon turned into a delightful side business. The aroma of freshly baked treats soon wafted beyond my home kitchen, capturing the attention of work friends, teachers, and parents at my children's schools. Word of mouth spread like wildfire, and my desserts and cakes became a sought-after delight.
In 2016, after years of honing my craft and encouragement from my friends and family, I took a giant leap forward. With all the courage I could muster, I officially opened Aunt Gingibread's Bakery. With a line around the building, we opened up to so much love and support from our community. My dream was realized!
Not content to simply be a supportive partner, my husband eagerly joined me in the bakery business. Armed with new found baking skills and a shared enthusiasm to succeed, we combined our talents to create a harmonious blend of flavors and a partnership that reflected the love we have for each other and our business.
My journey from an aspiring teenage baker to the proud owner of a thriving bakery has been one marked by passion, determination and the joy of creating something truly special. As we continue to mix, bake and frost our way through each day, we remain humbled and grateful for the opportunity to share our love of baking with our community. Dreams come true!
